This Week's Woodland Grocery Specials
This week I have 2 videos for you guys. The first one is about finding the elusive morel, and the second talks about the feared, but coveted, stinging nettle.
Morels are a favorite of many foragers. Yes, they taste great. But there are a lot of really good wild mushrooms. I think a big part of the reason people like these is because they are fun to search for... if you happen to find a few. And while some people seem to be able to find dozens every year, many come away empty-handed more often than not. So how do those people find morels? Partly it's about having a sweet spot. There's no way around that. But a big part of it is what's called "search image". They find more morels because they are better at knowing where and how to look. This video is designed to help you improve your search image.
Nettles are another favorite. They are highly nutritious, can be used in a wide variety of ways, are plentiful and easy to find, and preserve well. So you can easily harvest enough nettle to make it a regular green in your diet and use it in teas year round. But first, you have to figure out how to get the nettles without getting stung. This video talks about stinging nettle and gives some harvesting tips.
